Ian

1992 – 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ian on Saturday Oct 16, 2021 at the age of 29 years.

He was born in Red Deer, Alberta and was fortunate to spend his life in the community of Innisfail surrounded by family and friends.  Ian was blessed to have grown up next door to his grandparents Bob and Kay Dempster who were avid fans of everything Ian participated in. He was also very fortunate to be able to spend time and create many memories with his grandparents Joan and Bill Edgington.

Ian was a naturally gifted athlete that excelled at any sport he participated in. Through his participation in sports, he acquired many friends.  He loved music and was a gifted musician, writing and producing songs to express the many emotions experienced in life. We will remember the kindness Ian showed to everyone he met; be it an old friend or a new acquaintance. His kind and gentle soul also drew him to animals and allowed him to connect and care for them in a special way.

Ian will be forever remembered and missed by his mother, Valerie Christine Rawlings, his father William David Dempster (Sherrie), his stepmother Wendy Severtson, special friend Latasha, grandmother Joan Edgington as well as cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Robert and Kay Dempster, grandfather Chris Rawlings and grandfather Bill Edgington. His favourite four- legged friend Shiloh will miss him dearly.

If desired Memorial Donations in Ian’s honor may be made to The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta 4809 48 Ave, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 3T2 or the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 77 St, Red Deer, Alberta, T4P 2J1.
