Harold Herbert Bellamy passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the age of 93 years.

Harold was born in Didsbury, Alberta to Walter and Ruth Bellamy. Harold was one year old when he moved to Cremona from the Westcott area. He married the love of his life, Viola Coleman in 1952. Harold prided himself in helping many neighbours with farming and animal husbandry over the years.

Harold was often the instigator of mischief with his nephews, Wayne, Warren and the boys as they grew up. Harold and Vi farmed together in the Cremona area.  They also had a love for camping, and spending time playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Once Harold and Vi knew the farm was in good hands, Harold and Vi  had the opportunity to travel with friends and family. They travelled across Canada, Alaska and throughout the United States. An important part of their travelling was visiting family and friends across, B.C., Alberta and Manitoba.

In 2015 Harold moved to Cochrane to be with his beloved Vi when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. After Vi’s death in 2016, Harold continued to live in Cochrane at the Bethany and was lovingly looked after by “his girls” from the Bethany. He loved his family and couldn’t wait to have visits from his brother, Jack, children, grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren.

Harold was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Vi. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Buster (Jean), Norman (Mary), Delbert (Dorothy), Lloyd (Ollie) and Sister Avis (Roy) Chapin; daughter-in-law, Judy and son Gary.

He will be lovingly remembered by brother, Jack (Sandie); his children, Mac, Ken (Chris), Rex (Sue), Ralph (Betty) and Gary’s widow, Carol; his grandchildren, Brian (Laurie), Jeff (Julie), Aaron (Jennifer), Terran (Brian), Tanis (Dustin), Shayne (Meaghan), Chadd (Ashley), Cecile (Kevin), Cassandra (Daniel), Nicole and Jessie; great-grandchildren, Travis, Grace and Sam, Mackenzie and Emma, Hope and Faith, Kaislee, Tripp and Oaklynn, Lexi and Levi, Jackson, Liam, Zoey and Reed, Haiden and Lillian, Kaylie, Tyler and Kori. He will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Bethany Care in Cochrane. The Unit 74 Doctors and nurses at the Rockyview Hospital and the Bow View Manor staff.

At Harold’s request there will be no public service but the family will have a private Burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stars Foundation. Messages of condolence for the family can be emailed to [email protected].
