Mrs. Sheila Irene Averill of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the age of 69 years. 

Sheila was born in Innisfail on March 30, 1951.  She was raised on the family farm in the Gordon District, and attended the Gordon and Innisfail Schools.  She then went on to Beautician School in Red Deer and enjoyed forty-one wonderful years in business.  She loved all of her clients dearly.  Sheila was full of life, love and laughter.  She loved to cook for family and friends.  Sheila also was a great seamstress, loved golfing, camping, gardening and the great outdoors.  Her greatest passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her husband of thirty-six years, Lynn Averill; her son, Curtis Oxtoby of Innisfail, her stepson, Brad Rankin, also of Innisfail, her stepdaughters, Lynnette Kimmitt of Red Deer and Kathleen Saunders of Sundre; her seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Tanner, Paige, Shaina, Averill, Trace and Oliver; and her two great grandchildren, Blake and Dallas.  She will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Allan (Emily) MacKenzie-Grieve of Blairmore, Mary Husband of Red Deer, Jean Rutschke of Red Deer, Don MacKenzie-Grieve of Innisfail, Phyllis (Fletch) Waldo of Red Deer, Joyce (Russell) Bowe of Innisfail, Linda (Lyle) Krause of Dickson, Gwen MacKenzie-Grieve of Red Deer, Sherry (Darrel) Butler of Calgary and Ruth Cole of Penhold; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Thelma MacKenzie-Grieve, a daughter, Tanya Lise Oxtoby, a sister Agnes Calkins, and brothers-in-law, Henry Husband, Stew Calkins and Lawrence Rutschke.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Staff at the Red Deer Hospice and to the family members that took care of Sheila.
