PENNY ARCH

October 13, 1941 – July 12, 2022

Penny Archibald of Innisfail passed away on July 12, 2022 after fighting the effects of a severe stroke. She fought for life until the end as she had for the last few years, dealing with endless medical issues. Her will to live is a testament to her character, which was strong, bold and honest. Her family, heritage, community and friends were very important to her. She was an amazing swimmer and instructor, but ear damage made it difficult as a career.  She was hired by an oil company in Calgary at a very young age and quickly rose to boss of the map room. But she loved the land, agriculture, and animals, so marriage to a farmer - Allan Archibald was a dream come true. A born people person - of course she ended up in politics. She served as a Councilor for Red Deer County, as well as a Trustee on Chinook’s Edge School Board for years. In both positions she was a force to be reckoned with and served her constituents with integrity, honesty, knowledge and a good story or laugh. She loved both positions. That she was “a character” seems to be a common comment and she will be remembered in all aspects of her life with many, many stories.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband Allan, daughter Dodie, sister Ronnie (Ron) Bailey, nieces, Rhonda, Debbie and Diane, nephew Darryl and many great friends.

Penny was pre deceased by her parents Irene and Remie Daines, her father-in-law Wally Archibald and her mother-in-law Myrtle McBride.

A Funeral Service celebrating the of life for Penny will be held at Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion on July 22 at 1:00 pm. If you would like a story of a time spent with Penny shared at the service, please bring it with you, paper will be provided if you’d like to write it down. Interment to follow in the Innisfail Cemetery.
