MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY — The county has imposed a total fire ban for the entire municipality effective immediately, officials said Friday.

Remaining in effect until further notice, the ban requires that all outdoor fires presently burning be extinguished, while the lighting of any outdoor fires is also banned.

The only exceptions currently are internal household fireplaces, barbecues, and Alberta Energy Regulator flaring.

All current fire permits and fireworks permits are cancelled and no new fire or fireworks permits will be issued until the ban has been lifted.

Fire ban information can be obtained on the Mountain View County website at mountainviewcounty.com, or by contacting the county office at 403-335-3311.

Visit www.albertafirebans.ca for additional information on current fire bans.
