Mountain View County citizenship award recipients named

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - County council has approved the 2021 Citizenship Award recipients.

The awards are presented to recognize contributions made by local, rural youth to their respective communities, with one Grade 12 student from each high school located in the county awarded.

Each applicant is judged on various criteria, including good attitude toward school and community, involvement in extra-curricular activities, enthusiasm and initiative, volunteer work in community, leadership qualities, and maintaining good academic standing.

The 2021 recipients are as follows: Ashley Gillespie from Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs; Jolee Shand from Cremona School; Hunter Reese from Didsbury High School; Kieran Jones from Olds Koinonia Christian School; Lucas Zumbuehl from Ecole Olds High School; and Taylor Guzmanuk from Sundre High School.

Each award recipient receives $1,000 under Policy No. 8002 - Citizenship Award.
