MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – County council has approved health funding applications from six area organizations. The move came by way of motion at a recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

Under the county’s health funding policy (No. 5001), the municipality supports innovative solutions that support health-care service delivery in the county’s geographical region.

Organizations that made recent funding applications under the policy were the Graham Hall Community Association, Hope 4 MVC Kids Society, Olds and District Hospice Society, Peaks to Prairies Primary Care Network, Sundre Health Professional Attraction and Retention, and the Village of Cremona’s FCSS.

A total of $48,565 in requests was made, with the budgeted amount available in 2020 being $65,370.

The Hope 4 MVC Kids Society request was for $16,940. The funds will be used to support families in medical need through the non-profit society and registered charity’s work.

The Olds and District Hospice Society request was for $15,000. The funds will go towards providing support for improved hospice palliative care within the county, and specifically to offset monthly lease expenses on two hospice suites in an assisted living facility.

The Sundre Health Professional Attraction and Retention request was for $10,000, with the funds used in efforts to bring physicians, nurses and other health workers to the community.

The Peaks to Prairies Primary Care Network request was for $3,400, with the funds going to support workshops to address mental health challenges that can accompany pregnancy, childbirth and early year parenting.

The Graham Hall Community Association request was for $2,000 for an automated external defibrillator for the hall.
