Special Olympic teams wrap up season

Another season has come to an end for two Special Olympics sports and the athletes involved.

Another season has come to an end for two Special Olympics sports and the athletes involved.

The organization's three curling coaches and their seven athletes have participated in two curling bonspiels and have learned much in the ways of technique and skill.

They had their wind-up on Wednesday, March 16 and each athlete proudly received a trophy for his or her efforts this fall and winter.

The Special Olympics Olds and District Affiliate Committee thanks head coach Darren Brown, Bob Brown and Rick Astle for their dedication in helping the athletes in curling.

The Special Olympics' floor hockey teams finished up their season with a tournament in Red Deer on Saturday, March 19.

Each team played two games against opponents from Red Deer and Sherwood Park.

Each of the four games were played with enthusiasm and oftentimes had the fans on the edge of their seats.

The success of this event and the season was dependent on head coach Darren Brown and his assisting volunteers.

Organizers are appreciative of everyone who helped out with practices and tournaments.
