OLDS — The Olds College Broncos women’s volleyball team’s latest recruit brings size, experience and success to the court.

Averi Gill, a middle, stands 5’ 11.”

The Armstrong, B.C. native played for the Pleasant Valley Secondary team as well as the SKY Volleyball 18U squad.

She was captain for the past two seasons at Pleasant Valley and was also chosen player of the wave during the 2019 Volleyball Canada nationals. The team placed third in the nationals.

We are thrilled to have Averi join our 2020-2021 roster,” head coach Rhonda Schmuland says.

Her competitive nature, desire for growth, and pursuit of excellence will be a great addition to our culture.

“As a middle blocker, both her block and attack will add depth to our roster in that position.”

Gill is looking forward to the season.

I am excited to continue my passion of volleyball with the Broncos,” she says. “I am excited to be a part of another community while learning my way around these new opportunities.

Although the Broncos lost several key starters to graduation this past season, Schmuland says they have a strong core of returnees and recruits like Gill will build upon that strength.

“This core of returning athletes will bring with them the culture we have established over this past season while pulling through the legacy of our graduating student-athletes into the present,” Schmuland says.

“We are anticipating a fantastic season with continued growth and success.”

Gill plans to obtain a business diploma in sports management.
