OLDS — The second annual Junior Funspiel attracted 20 teams, up from 13 last year.

The event, featuring youth from ages seven to 18 was held Feb. 1 at the Olds Sportsplex.

“The spiel was amazing,” organizer Heather Tookey said.

“Everything went really smoothly due to our great sponsors, kitchen, ice maker, coaches, parents and of course the wonderful participants.”

Eight teams competed in the high school division for youth ages 14-18. Twelve teams battled in the U-13 for youth ages seven to 13.

The Jordyn Roberts rink of Sundre, featuring Makayla May, Aimee Walton and Taya Young, won the U-13 division.

The Aidan Snider rink of Okotoks, featuring Eric Tourigny, Declan Lamontagne and Theo Sprinkhuysen, were the U-18 winners.

“We are already planning next year to see how we can make it bigger and better,” Tookey said.
