Numerous rodeo contestants from around the region will be competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer this week.

Mere weeks before the event kick-off, Innisfail-area bareback rider Dylan Bilton moved into the 12th and final qualifying spot in the bareback riding event as Connor Hamilton was sidelined due to injury, according to rodeo officials.

He joins fellow bareback riders Jake Vold from the Carstairs area and Ky Marshall from the Bowden area in the competition for top bareback rider status.

Two area riders will be competing in bull riding. They are Didsbury area’s Kyle Brown and Innisfail area’s Callum Miller.

Didsbury’s Morgan Grant and Carstairs area’s Kyle Lucas are competing in tie-down roping.

Ryan Shuckburgh from the Innisfail area and Matt Richardson from the Olds area are competing in steer wrestling.
