OLDS — The Olds College Broncos men’s basketball team lost 88-75 to the Red Deer College (RDC) Kings  in the Olds College Appreciation Game Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Ralph Klein Centre.

Red Deer jumped out to a small lead to start the game before a brilliant bank-shot three by Ben Nelson followed by a pair of Muktar Mohammed layups brought the score to 14-12 for Red Deer.

By halftime, the Kings led 47-32.

The Broncos fought back, eventually bringing the score to 63-62 before the Kings pulled away to win.

The Pit Barbecue Player of the Game for the Broncos was Anders Eklund with eight points and three rebounds.The player of the game for RDC was Kevin Szymanek with 16 points and three rebounds.

The Broncos led the game in assists 8-5 while Red Deer held the edge in rebounds 36-28.

Landon Parrington had a team high 21 points and he joined Bailey Walz and Muktar Mohamed with a team high six rebounds, while Walz and Mohamed had a team high three assists for the Broncos.

The Broncos host Briercrest College on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
