On Thursday, September 15th the Innisfail Eagles hosted their first-ever charity golf tournament at the Innisfail Golf Club. One hundred and thirty golfers came out in support of the Eagles and Innisfail’s Helping Hand Fund.

The day started off early with an 8 a.m. breakfast and registration. The golfers then hit the course at 10 a.m. The hole everyone wanted to be at was Aspen 5, where they had a chance to golf against former NHLer Marty McSorley. At Marty’s hole was also the chance to win a brand new Harley from Gasoline Alley Harley Davidson on a hole-in-one. Unfortunately no one was lucky enough to win the new hog, but everyone did get a chance to have a team photo taken with Marty.

The Servus Credit Union Team of Devin Kirkness, Rob Hobbs, Brady Brooks and Jeremy Heistad won the tournament with a 15 under. For winning the tournament the boys received a one-of-a-kind trophy designed and built by Red Willow Welding.

The Eagles would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the sponsors, golfers and volunteers for making this event the huge success it turned out to be. With everyone’s support the Eagles were able to make a $2,150 donation to Innisfail’s Helping Hand Fund.

The tournament ended on a high note with numerous people already talking about doing it again next year. The fun everyone had on the course made the hard work of putting on this event seem so worth it by the time supper was finished.

Next year will be bigger and better and even more fun.

Thank you again to everyone.
