Cross Country team places third at championships

The season has ended for cross country teams at the middle school and high school level. Coach Dean Woroniuk, for the grade 8 and 9 group, said he season went well. “The numbers have increased. For grade 8 and 9, we had 24 athletes.

The grade 6 to 9 students were in Big Valley Oct. 13 competing in the Central Western Alberta Athletic Association track meet.

The top 20 results for individuals include:

Grade 7 Girls: Faith Gette, 8th place. Kendall Janssen, 11th Alicia Janssen, 12th Michaela Janssen, 20th.

Grade 9 Girls: Amy Severston, 2nd

Grade 6 boys: Alexaander Ramrattan, 13th Brett Marshall, 14th

Grade 7 Boys: Thomas Layden, 7th

Grade 8 Boys: Josh Gette, 6th

The grade 7 to 9 Cross Country Teams from Innisfail Junior / Senior High School and Innisfail Middle School won the 3J banner on Tuesday October 4 2011at the Chinooks Edge North Athletic track Championships in Red Deer.

Individual performances:

Grade 9 Girls: Emily Lucas, gold medal winner

Grade 9 Girls: Amy Severston, silver medal winner

Grade 8 Boys: Josh Gette, silver medal winner

Grade 7 Girls: Faith Gette, gold medal winner, Kendall Janssen bronze medal winner

Grade 7 Boys: Thomas Layden, gold medal winner, Carter silver medal winner

Grade 6 Boys: Alex Ramrattan, silver medal winner

Many of the athletes finished in the top 10 in each event.
