Former Olds resident Danielle Lappage battled hard in the 68-kilogram class during the World Wrestling Championships last week but in the end, was unable to get past the quarter-finals.
The championships were held Sept. 14-22 in Kazakhstan.
Lappage won her first match 10-0 versus a Bulgarian opponent, then 9-4 over Zhou Feng of China.
However, she lost her quarter-final matchup 8-7 to Alla Cherkasova of Ukraine.
In an email to the Albertan, Lappage said she made some "tactical errors" which cost her that match.
She described that as "obviously extremely disappointing and frustrating."
"However, I am trying to regroup and improve from my mistakes in order to prepare for the Olympic trials in December," she wrote.
