No major changes are expected for the Red Deer County Municipal Development Plan currently under review, said Cynthia Cvik, director of planning and development services.Approved in 2007, the planning document outlines how land will be used and identifies future growth in the county as far ahead as 20 years from now.ìThere isn't any major item that has leapt out and said, ëOh my goodness, this is wrong,' î said Cvik, who added feedback from the community will be the main indicator if something needs to change. ìWe're taking the community's temperature and (asking), ëDo you still feel these are things we value? Is this where we want to go? Is this what we want on the ground for the grandchildren? Do we have the right picture?' îThe county hosted four public workshops at the end of October and into the first week of November, with a total of 73 people attending.Comments were collected on a wide array of topics including agriculture, residential and industrial commercial land, the environment, culture and recreation, and infrastructure.Questionnaire boxes were located around the county, to collect feedback from people unable to attend the workshops. Those comments will be collected this week.Cvik said together with the consulting group, ISL Engineering and Land Services, the feedback from the workshops and from the questionnaires will be put into charts and posted on the website, www.rdcountyvision.ca.The completion of a draft is expected sometime in the spring, with another open house in April. The final approval is expected a year from now.
