A 25-year-old man who pushed a 70-year-old man to the floor during a confrontation in June has been ordered to complete community service hours.The accused pleaded guilty before Judge Peter Barley in Didsbury provincial court on Nov. 21 to a charge of assault.The accused and the victim got into an argument on a rural property east of Olds on June 25, court heard.A short time after the argument began, the accused pushed the victim to the ground, causing bruising and a small abrasion.The accused has a 2006 record for assault and a 2010 record for impaired driving.ìI'm sorry about my actions,î the man told the judge.Judge Barley sentenced Kory Roode, 25, to 18 months probation and ordered him to complete 30 hours of community service.Man threatened shop ownerA 44-year-old man who threatened to harm a Bowden shop owner has been placed on probation for one year.The accused pleaded guilty in Didsbury provincial court on Wednesday to a charge of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm.The accused was employed at Bowden's Paul Cycle and Sled from January to March before being let go on March 14, court heard.Eleven days later the accused left a threatening message on the shop's telephone answering machine.In the message he called the owner ìgutless,î ìspinelessî and said he was going to ìkick his (expletive deleted).îCourt did not hear why the accused's employment at the shop was terminated.Judge E. J. Creighton told the accused, ìWhether or not you think they are idle threats, they are threats.îThe judge sentenced Shawn Gauthier, 44, to one day in jail and placed him on probation for one year. Gauthier, who now lives in Lethbridge, was given credit for four days served in pre-sentence custody.
