Cremona Lions support community

The Cremona Lions are a serviced based organization whose members volunteer to help our local community as well as their country and the world.

The Cremona Lions are a serviced based organization whose members volunteer to help our local community as well as their country and the world.

Our club raises funds by catering to the Water Valley Rodeo, Cremona Day, the Dog Pound Stampede, working at the casino, and operating the Cremona RV dump.

Our major fundraiser of the year is our Annual Garage Sale and Charity Auction, which will be held this year on Saturday, Nov. 2 in the Cremona Community Hall.

During this past year, the Cremona Lions Club has distributed approximately $19,000 back into the community plus a $30,000 commitment to the Cremona Agricultural Society for upgrades to the Cremona Arena.

Major beneficiaries were the University of Calgary Sight Center, STARS, Cremona School Enhancement Society, Mountain View Food Bank, Lions Youth Camp, guide dogs, Santa’s Anonymous, Congregational Church Christmas hampers, Cochrane Activettes hampers, and the Cremona School Breakfast program.

Minor beneficiaries include the Water Valley Terry Fox Run, Cremona Hall Board, Cremona Show and Shine, school scholarships and the Volunteerism Scholarship, Cremona 4-H Club, Cremona Minor Hockey Tykes Tournament, Lions Leader Dog, Outwest Junior Rodeo, and local students participating in the Encounters with Canada program.

The winners of this year’s Cremona Lions Scholarships are: Volunteerism - Jillian Klys; Drama - Ryatt Nugent; French - Ryatt Nugent; Art - Hayley Ekert; Top English/Social 30-2 - Tyler Barrows.  Congratulations to all.

The Cremona Lions welcome new members to our club.
