Another suspect at large sought in kidnapping case

RCMP are searching for a second suspect in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident that occurred on Jan. 23. Police are now looking for 39-year-old Didsbury resident Tayna Dawn Hoomana. She faces charges of kidnapping with a firearm, extortion with a firearm, and possession of stolen property. Police are also reportedly still searching for Mitchell “Mitch” Lewis Engler, 32, in connection with the matter.

DIDSBURY - Police are looking for a second suspect who is still at large after a man was taken at gunpoint from Didsbury on Jan. 23, police said Thursday.

A warrant has been issued for 39 year-old Didsbury resident Tayna Dawn Hoomana.

She faces charges of kidnapping with a firearm, extortion with a firearm, and possession of stolen property, said RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Jan. 23, Didsbury RCMP were called to a complaint of a male that had been taken at gunpoint in the town of Didsbury, RCMP Cpl. Curtis Peters said in a Jan. 29 press release.

The victim was allegedly threatened to pay a sum of money or he would face bodily harm, he said.

Police are still searching for another suspect in the case who is still at large.

Mitchell "Mitch" Lewis Engler, 32, is considered armed and dangerous. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of charges of kidnapping with a firearm, extortion with a firearm, uttering threats, and possession of stolen property.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Hoomana or Engler is being asked to call Didsbury RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Police have already arrested and charged three Olds residents in the case. They are Justin Anglet, 19, Donald Martin, 39, Jacob Donkin, 19.

All three men remain in custody.
