Sundre landowner John Mikal says he hopes Plains Midstream Canada will be able to clean up and repair the massive damage caused to the Red Deer River shoreline and its ecosystem by last week's pipeline oil spill.

Code of conduct Penhold town council adopted a councillors' code of conduct during the May 28 meeting. Mayor Dennis Cooper said council had previously discussed the policy during a committee of the whole meeting.

A man pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police, possession of stolen property and having care or control of a motor vehicle with his blood-alcohol level over the legal limit when he appeared in Red Deer provincial court on June 6.

Council approved spending just over $500,000 to complete a new truck route that will run behind Kevin's No Frills, during the May 28 meeting. Mayor Jim Romane said currently people are cutting through the No Frills parking lot to get out to the 2A.

The Innisfail Aquatic Centre turned 25 in style on June 9. “This is an amazing facility,” said Earl Dreeshen, the area's member of parliament. He and Innisfail Mayor Jim Romane both gave speeches as part of the day's formal programming.

Penhold peace officers are encouraging the community to “keep it clean” in an attempt to deter graffiti. “We're trying to make the community aware,” said Dana Jones, a Penhold peace officer.

Assault charge A man was charged with resisting arrest and assault after police were called to a domestic incident on May 29. The incident occurred just outside of Innisfail on a rural property in the afternoon.

Plea reserved in drug case A man charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking is scheduled to enter his plea when he appears in Red Deer provincial court on June 12.
