Women join in a wellness day

Women from Penhold and the surrounding area planned to take part in a day of learning, growing, and even a little pampering at the Women’s Wellness Day on the weekend.

Women from Penhold and the surrounding area planned to take part in a day of learning, growing, and even a little pampering at the Women’s Wellness Day on the weekend.

The day is put on by the Penhold community services department and is meant to be a day for women to be inspired and to take a break from their busy lives.

“It’s a great day for women to get out and do something for themselves,” said Tara Wells, the Penhold community services manager.

This year the scheduled local keynote speaker for the Saturday event was a mother, a teacher, and an author. The speaker, Teresa Rilling from Sylvan Lake, has travelled across Canada speaking to people about becoming who they were created to be in her presentation called, “Be Yourself – Everyone Else is Taken.”

Other presenters included Corrie Monk, who currently works as the district community worker for the Town of Bowden and planned a presentation called Women as Caregivers – How Far Can I Stretch? Beth Castle who is a dietary technician, planned a presentation called Emotional Eating, Food Cravings and Metabolism.

Some of the planned exhibitors at the event included Cynthia Sebry, with Essential Energy Healing, and Vivian Williamson with Arbonne.

Event attendees had the chance to take in a fashion show featuring fashion feng shui.

Joanne Ward, a beauty and fashion expert coordinated the show, which was meant to teach elemental style of fashion.

Throughout the day the women were able to actively participate in healthy activities such as Yoga with Hilary Ann Scott and Zumba, which is a dance fitness class, with Pamela Bujis.

The theme for the event was, “Passion, Power, Purpose: Discover Your Hidden Potential,” and this year the community services department designed their own logo to be used to symbolize the wellness day.

The Women’s Wellness Day has been taking place in Penhold since 2002 and was held at the Penhold Memorial Hall.
