RED DEER COUNTY – The rural municipality is reopening all playgrounds by May 28.

The county announced last week it would continue to follow all guidelines from Alberta Health Services, including posting signs promoting safe physical distancing and sanitization.

However, playgrounds will not be supervised. Citizens wishing to use the equipment are encouraged to disinfect it before and after usage.

The county is also directing that people who have COVID-19-related symptoms must not use playground equipment and are encouraged to remain at home.

“We realize that many residents are anxious to get outside and use our playgrounds, however we must take the proper steps to ensure the equipment is safe and ready to use,” said Jo-Ann Symington, the county’s community services manager.

“We also remind those wishing to use playgrounds to remain with those living in their household, and following physical distancing guidelines.”

For general inquiries citizens can contact Red Deer County Centre at 403-350-2150.
