INNISFAIL – A middle-aged Red Deer County man has died as a result of a single-vehicle rollover crash in a rural area about 20 kilometres northwest of Bowden.

Innisfail RCMP Cpl. Donovan Mercer said at about 6:50 a.m. on March 21 police officers from the local detachment were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision.

Mercer said a vehicle was heading southbound on Rge. Rd. 25 when it went down in the west ditch right before the intersection with Twp. Rd. 350 within Red Deer County.

He said an adult male driver succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.

Mercer said there was no witnesses to the crash. He said the deceased male driver, described as being in his 50s and a resident of Red Deer County, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Mercer said road conditions at the time of the crash were dry and clear.

“It didn’t appear weather was a factor,” said Mercer, adding all possible contributing factors into the crash are being probed. “We will definitely be able to update that later on. I can say we were in contact with our forensic collision reconstructionist unit.

“They did actually attend and they will be able to advise us whether or not any other factors played into why the collision may have occurred,” he added.

Anyone with information concerning the collision is asked to contact the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the P3 Tips app available through the Apple App or Google Play.
