INNISFAIL – The Innisfail Kinsmen Club is celebrating the unofficial opening of Innisfail’s brand new skatepark.

The Kinsmen are at the skatepark today (Sunday) from 2 to 4 p.m., hosting a barbecue and giving out free hot dogs and drinks to youth and users of the new recreation facility.

“Yesterday we were sitting around together and thought it's going to be a beautiful day (Sunday) and we knew it was going to be packed here, so we went and bought some hot dogs,” said John Schneider, president of the Innisfail Kinsmen Club. “We’re giving out hot dogs and drinks for free and we brought some music down too.”

Schneider said the Innisfail Kinsmen are thrilled to see the new skatepark open and being used by Innisfail’s youth.

“We are extremely pleased (to see all the kids),” he said. “At this point, I believe we’ve cooked about 100 hot dogs.

“We want to be a part of the opening and all the events going on here. This is just our own way of saying thank you for letting us be a part of it,” Schneider concluded.
