Outright Adventure Co.

Are you interested in learning how to rock climb? Would you like to try it out before you invest in all the necessary equipment?

When outdoor enthusiast Nathan Clark learned that a climbing wall had been built in the Innisfail Middle School, it was as if his dream had come true.

“I quickly formed Outright Adventure Co. with the purpose of providing safe, fun recreational activities for people of all ages, and of all abilities,” he said of the indoor and outdoor programs his company offers.

As of March 3, Outright Adventure Co. is running a series of wall climbing courses at IMS taught by Clark and two assistant instructors.

Clark, who is an Association of Canadian Mountain Guides certified Climbing Gym Instructor said “my assistants are climbers and know their stuff. I trained them personally.”

The wall climbing courses are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at IMS.

“The first four course nights will be restricted to beginners and those who require instruction in the basics of belaying and bouldering,” explained Clark. “Wall climbing classes are open to all ages, but children aged 13 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.”

If you are a seasoned climber looking to hone your skills before summer, come in and show the crew your stuff. If you meet the grade, you are more than welcome to pay a drop in fee and either practice or arrange for more advanced instruction. Drop-in sessions began on March 17.

The goal of Outright Adventure Co. is personal for Clark.

“I want to influence people to become more active, healthy, safe and more aware of the incredible beauty all around us as we get off the couch and onto our feet.”
