DIDSBURY - The Mountain View Colts head into the Christmas break with an impressive 5-1 record in December, although last weekend’s final 2021 game saw the team drop a hard-fought match to north-division rivals Rocky Rams.

Friday’s game against Rocky saw the Colts get goals from Austin Corsiatto (assist Jordan Saunders), Nate McNeely, Hayden Sotheran (assists Steven Bell and Paton  Rothenbusch), Saunders (assists Carter Layden and Ryan Bauer), and Bell (assist McNeely). The final score was 7-6 for the Rams.

The Colts finish the 2021 portion of the 2021-2022 Heritage Junior B Hockey League season with a 17-9 record, seven points behind first place Cochrane Generals.

Colts’ head coach Gord Olsen says the team is looking good heading into 2022.

“The coaching staff is very pleased with the team’s efforts,” said Olsen, “especially when we have converted some forwards to defencemen and our captain Lane Rothenbusch (a defenceman) is out with injury for the last four games.”

The Colts are back in action at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Jan. 5 against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers and against the Generals on Jan. 7.
