DIDSBURY – Town council has been given an update on the operation of Didsbury Municipal Library during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The review came during a recent council meeting and included a delegation from the library.

Manager Monique Fiedler told council that although the doors of the library have been closed to the public since March 15, work has continued at the facility.

“Staff continue to come into work from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday to renew library memberships, provide temporary memberships for new members, as well as responding to patrons, including assisting patrons with accessing our e-books, audio books and our online resources,” said Fiedler.

“The library has transitioned to virtual programming to help find ways to keep our community members connected and engaged, launching new programs for all ages.”

The library’s WiFi continues to operate and “every day we have patrons parking safely out front to make use of this service.”

Since the meeting, curbside service has begun.
