DIDSBURY - Councillors have given second reading to a bylaw to establish a process for sending assessment notices, tax notices, assessment review board notices, as well as other notices, documents and information by electronic means.

The Electronic Communications Bylaw No. 2020-07 defines an electronic format as an electronic method of sending or receiving communication and can include emails, text messages or a web-based platform including Didsbury.ca.

Taxpayers can opt out of receiving communications through electronic means by contacting the town.

The bylaw requires that measures be in place to protect taxpayer information.

The bylaw will come back before council at an upcoming meeting for possible third and final reading.
