CREMONA - Three candidates are vying to replace former councillor Bonnie Scribner in the upcoming Village of Cremona byelection.

Joseph Francis Canaday, Heather Hutton and Robert Foxwell Reid filed nomination papers by the May 18 deadline, said returning office Chris Atchison. The nominations became official today at noon.

Village residents will go to the polls June 15 to replace Scribner, who officially resigned her position on council on March 15 due to family reasons.

The byelection vote itself will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion hall in Cremona.

Atchison, director of legislative, community and agricultural services with Mountain View County, was named returning officer several weeks ago.

Mayor Tim Hagen said Wednesday that he plans to speak to local Chamber of Commerce officials about the possibility of an all-candidates forum being held.
