MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - In a field east of Cremona on Aug. 29, people of all ages donned helmets as they settled into the seat of their lawn mowers for what would prove to be not your typical ride.

With names like Auger Amusement and Manure Mayhem, many of the challenges that were part of the third annual Mountain View Tractor Rodeo and Lawn Mower Races tested contestants' driving skills unlike any regular lawn mowing chore ever could.

About 200 people attended the daylong event at Mountain View Events's The Heritage Centre.

Rodeo events included ladies barrel racing with tractors, pole bending, a fun run obstacle course, chain lay and crowd favourite, dunk the chicken.

Winners included Rick Wilson, Mike Woods, Mercedes Quantz, Richard Ross, Rick Wilson, Jeff Bellamy, Evan Reid and Derek Vogle and Chandra Dickau. Red Deer Mountain View Member of Parliament Earl Dreeshen competed in the King Farmer event.

Many local and areas businesses sponsored the events.
