CREMONA - A 19-year-old Cremona man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 on Thursday night.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Sept. 30, Didsbury RCMP were called to a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-tractor approximately three kilometres south of Twp. Rd. 300, south of the village of Cremona.

Preliminary investigation indicates the pickup was southbound on the two-lane highway when it crossed the centre line, entered the northbound lane and collided with a northbound semi-tractor, said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Keibel.

The 19-year-old driver of the pick-up was transported by EMS to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has not been named.

The 26-year-old driver of the semi-tractor was assessed at the scene by EMS and released.

No charges are pending in the case and it is not yet known if alcohol or speed were factors, Keibel told The Albertan.

The RCMP collision analyst attended to assist with the investigation, which was ongoing Friday.

The Cremona fire department also responded to the crash scene.
