CREMONA - Second-term Village of Cremona councillor Bonnie Scribner has resigned.

“It’s for personal reasons with my family,” Scribner told the Albertan Thursday. “My dad is quite ill at the moment. I’ve been missing quite a few meetings since the 26th of February. I need to take care of my dad and my mom.”

Her resignation was accepted by council at the March 15 council meeting, said Village of Cremona Mayor Tim Hagen.

Scribner was re-elected by acclamation in the 2021 municipal election.

Her resignation is effective immediately, leaving three councillors and mayor Hagen on council.

Hagen said Schribner has been a valuable member of council and will be missed.

A byelection will be held to fill the vacant seat, although a date for the vote has not yet been set, he said.

“We will be working on that at the next council meeting,” said Hagen.
