Cremona council approves $900,000 interim budget

More education tax, property tax expected to be collected compared to last year

CREMONA - Village of Cremona council has approved a $900,000 interim balanced budget for 2021, which calls for total tax revenue for municipal purposes of $412,664, up from $408,695 in 2020.

The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

It calls for residential property taxes of $321,911 in 2021, up slightly from $318,723 last year. Commercial taxes are set at $76,585, compared with $75,827 in 2020.

The Alberta School Foundation Tax levy is estimated to be $139,625, compared with $135,558 last year.

The Alberta policing costs are estimated to be $12,263, up from $8,286 last year, while the Mountain View Seniors' Housing requisition is estimated to be $18,535, up from $17,995 in 2020.

Estimated revenues in 2021 include business licences of  $1,300, the same as in 2020, returns on investment of $6,300, the same as last year.

Total revenues is estimated to be $898,472, up from $894,078 in 2020.

On the expenses side, total councillor costs are estimated to be $19,550, the same as in 2020, while general administration costs are set at $194,055, down from $201,502 in 2020.
