CARSTAIRS – RCMP are seeking public tips in locating suspects who stole a vehicle in Carstairs on the morning of April 6.

The suspects were in a stolen vehicle in Calgary when they were spotted by police northbound on Highway 2, Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier said in a release issued on April 8.

“Airdrie RCMP engaged the stolen vehicle, which fled into Carstairs,” he said.

The suspects then abandoned that vehicle, which was highly damaged, he said.

“They broke into a nearby residence and stole vehicle keys before being scared off by the homeowner,” he said.

The suspects then stole the homeowner’s vehicle and were last seen heading northbound on Highway 2A, he said.

A subsequent investigation revealed the suspects were from the Calgary area, he said.

Police did not say how many suspects were involved nor did they provide any description of the suspects or the vehicle stolen in Carstairs.

Staff Sgt. Fournier was not available for further comment.

Anyone with information can call Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3381 or Crime Stoppers.
