ST. ALBERT, Alta — The St. Albert RCMP is looking for information about a "suspicious" incident involving an unknown man and a group of children at a local park.

On July 5, at about 9 p.m., St. Albert RCMP received a report that a "suspicious male" grabbed a child’s wrist after photographing a group of children at a park in the Erin Ridge area, RCMP said in a press statement released today.

The group of children were walking down a pathway and felt they were being followed by an unknown man, the RCMP statement read.

Later that evening as the children were playing at a park, the same man photographed the children and grabbed a child by the wrist. The child then ran back to the group and contacted their parent, according to RCMP.

The man then left the area in a white or silver van.

The man is described as slender, Caucasian, between 30 and 40 years old, with a grey and black beard. He was wearing a grey hoodie.

Police are looking for information that might lead to the identity of the male, or that will assist in their investigation.

St. Albert RCMP said they have not received any similar reports recently, “but want to remind families to always be vigilant and review safety strategies with youth and children for their summer activities.”

If you have any information on this or any other crime, you are asked to contact the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
