RCMP investigating e-scooter collision resulting in injured youth

Airdrie RCMP say a youth was reportedly struck by a vehicle while operating an electric scooter on a sidewalk.

Airdrie RCMP announced in a press release on July 28 they are investigating an e-scooter collision that occurred in the Midtown neighbourhood on Wednesday evening, July 27. 

According to the press release, the incident was reported at 9:20 p.m., with both RCMP and emergency medical services (EMS) attending to the scene for an injury collision. 

"A youth was reportedly struck by a vehicle while operating an electric scooter on a sidewalk," read the press release. "The youth was transported by EMS to urgent care and has since been released having sustained minor injuries."

Though alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision, an investigation is ongoing. 

"Airdrie RCMP would like to remind the public to use care when operating e-scooters and for drivers to be cognizant of small vehicle traffic including e-scooters," the press release continued.
