The Airdrie RCMP arrested and charged an Airdrie resident after a weekend BB gun shooting spree.
Adam James Ferrier, 19, now faces 20 criminal code offences, according to a press release from the detachment. Charges include six counts of discharging an air gun with intent to wound, five counts of assault with a weapon, one count aggravated assault, one count of using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of trespassing at night, two counts of mischief and three counts of breach of probation.
According to the release, the charges come after multiple 911 calls of a male suspect randomly shooting people were made Sept. 18 around 9:30 p.m.
“This shooting spree started at a few residences in the McKenzie Way neighbourhood and proceeded to the downtown core,” the release said. “Members quickly responded and saw the male suspect running away from the scene. He was located hiding and taken into custody without incident.”
According to the releasee, three other males were arrested but later released as an investigation revealed they were not involved. Six people were injured during the incident with one person requiring medical assistance to remove a BB from their body. The others suffered minor injuries.
Ferrier will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court Oct. 15.
