Walking through a winter wonderland

Families can choose to at their leisure explore the winding, looping paths that lead around and through all of the lights and decorations on the acreage.

The carefully and elaborately manicured annual Christmas lights and decorations located on an acreage immediately west of Sundre past the mill not far from McDougal Chapel on the south side of Highway 584 never disappoints, featuring traditional elements with efforts to also change things up a bit every year to offer new surprises.

While the colourful display, which continues to grow after about 10 years, is a labour of love and expression of spirit for the season that people are welcome to see free of charge, there is donation box for those interested in offering a contribution, as well as a guestbook for anyone who wants to share some thoughts.

“I really like the signatures!” said Jackie Forbes, who sets up the display with help from her husband Al.

A modest parking area accommodates numerous vehicles, and the display is usually turned off for the night by about 10 p.m. to conserve energy.
