ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE — An Amber Alert in the Central Alberta region that was issued by Mounties this afternoon for a four-year-old girl police say was abducted has been cancelled.
The child was located.
The Rocky Mountain House RCMP reported that the abduction occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2:56 p.m. near the O’Chiese Marketplace.
The child, Jaizlyn Strawberry, 4, had been seen wearing a purple coat with her hair in a ponytail.
Police said she had been taken by her father, Michael Mackinaw, 38. He was described as five-foot, eight-inches tall with a heavy build and wearing a grey Under Armour t-shirt and black Under Armour pants.
Mackinaw’s last known whereabouts was travelling northbound on O’Chiese Road from the marketplace driving a Gold 2007 Dodge Caravan with Alberta licence plate CKM 9888.
The alert was broadcast on the provincial government’s Alberta Emergency Alert system and was issued for the area encompassing just north of Edmonton, south to the United States border, west to the British Columbia border and east to the Saskatchewan border.
The RCMP had urged people not to approach the suspect if he was found, and to immediately contact the Rocky Mountain House RCMP at 403-845-2881, or their local department with any information about this amber alert.
