SUNDRE - The local RCMP detchment will be focusing on traffic safety after it was identified as a priority by the community.

Several months ago, Sundre RCMP asked residents in the community to complete an online survey with regards to what people would like their local law enforcement to address.

Among the priorities identified was traffic safety through education and enforcement.

To that end, police said, “Citizens will see their local officers tackle this priority by not only identifying and removing impaired drivers, but also addressing dangerous drivers, speeders, seatbelts, distracted drivers, school zone violations, equipment violations and other use of the road violations.

"Our goal is the safety of all users of the road, and this includes pedestrians, so that everyone can make it home safe.”

The department expressed appreciation for the public’s support with this undertaking, and encourages people who have concerns to contact the department or call 911 should they wish to report a traffic matter.
