SUNDRE — The Sundre Rodeo & Race Association is turning to the public for help in an appeal for information that might lead to identifying a suspect or suspects who caused fairly extensive damage at the rodeo grounds.

About 100 plastic chairs valued at approximately $30 each were recently damaged or destroyed at the grounds, which hosts the annual Sundre Pro Rodeo, an event that brings out international talent and visitors.

“We even had (the chairs) all screwed down so the persons had to kick them free first,” reads a statement issued online earlier today (Nov. 24) by Shane Crouch, the association's president, who estimated the damages would cost between $2,000 to $2,500.

“We would appreciate any help with this and we also have surveillance set up now. As well, the police now have a key to do random checks. It’s hard to keep things going when people do stuff like this.”

In the association’s post on social media, anyone who has any tips was asked to contact the Sundre RCMP detachment, which during office hours can be reached by dialling 403-638-3675, or after hours at 403-638-3655. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), go online at www.P3Tips.com, or use the P3 Tips app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
