Sundre Elks host golf fundraiser

The tournament’s overall winners were Ken Bradley, Kevin Lowry, Keith Lowry and Dave Stewart.

The Sundre Elks Lodge No. 338 recently held a golf tournament fundraiser that was hosted on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Forest Heights Golf Course. Four-player teams hit the fairways in a Texas scramble, best ball format.

Barkley Carrier, Exalted Ruler of the Sundre Elks, said the “12th annual District 9 Charity Golf Classic tournament was a great success,” and expressed gratitude to sponsors and supporters from the surrounding area.

“We had 16 teams come out and a total of 64 players,” Carrier said.

Organizers estimate that at least $1,500 was raised. There was a raffle with more than $3,000 worth of prizes as well as $1,000 in door prizes plus another $1,000 in hole prizes, plus a booze barrel raffle worth more than $500. The winner of the 50-50 received $377.

“Proceeds from the tournament will be used to help children and families in Sundre and surrounding areas,” he said.
