SUNDRE – An unseasonably warm and beautiful late January afternoon proved too tempting for a local group of friends who decided the weather was perfect to enjoy playing shinny on the new, permanent outdoor rink.

Located off of Second Avenue NW immediately adjacent and to the west of the Sundre Skatepark and across the street from the Sundre Rodeo Grounds racetrack, the rink was recently completed following the extreme cold spell that had resulted in a temporary weekend closure of the Sundre Arena.

The municipality relocated the previous collapsible seasonal rink that is set up only for the winter months over at the Royal Purple Park in Sundre’s northeast subdivision along the 8th Avenue loop.
