Excessive rain changes plan for duck race

Excessive rain changes plan for duck race.,

When it rains, it pours. Due to all the recent consistent rainfall, the Bearberry Creek was flowing too strongly on Sunday, July 17 for the annual Great Bearberry Duck Race, so organizers had to come up with a Plan B. Instead of racing the ducks downstream, they were dumped in a dunk tank, and the Sundre and District Aquatic Society's president Di Halladay volunteered for the duty of going for a cool dip while randomly selecting a number of ducks to determine this year's winners. Nearly all 500 of the ducks were sold for the event, which raises funds for the Aquaplex and fitness centre. Pictured here is board member Wade Johnson, from Sundre, providing a few balls to Cheryle Longacre, who lives north of Sundre, and her daughter Lorelei, 7, who are members at the pool. Not pictured was their husband and father, Duncan.
