Letter: County urged to reverse Legacy Land Trust cut

I was pleased to read the council budget update in the Jan. 28 edition of the Mountain View Albertan.

I regretted to read that the Mountain View County (MVC) centred Legacy Land Trust will lose $10,000 in funding.

For $30 a day, all residents get a volunteer organization that is committed to conserving land and land use for future generations.

The organization is very thin in resources, relying heavily on volunteers and a few fundraising events, but with a big mandate to inform and assist landowners.

Legacy is making progress and I don't want to see that progress compromised for $30 a day in support.

I ask the MVC council to reconsider this cut and I call on others to write your councillor with the same request.

Don James,

Carstairs
