Letter: Agreeing with Dr. Graff's assessment

Re: Doctor situation in Olds

I have given this a considerable amount of thought before I wrote this letter to the editor after reading Dr. Graff’s previous letters. And I totally agree with Dr. Graff.

I do not understand how powers that be that sit in their ivory towers can dictate that we do not require more doctors. I say to them try to book an appointment and see how fast they can get one. I know for a fact that my family doctor does not work five days a week.

Maybe their intent is that if you have a medical need to see a doctor and can’t get in in a relatively short period of time that we overwhelm the emergency ward at the local hospital since that would be the only other place that you could get medical attention.

I say if there are foreign medical doctors ready willing and able to practise family medicine in rural Alberta let them come – since most of the Canadian ones want the big town family business.
