Two local residents face charges following drug bust

OLDS — An Olds resident and a Mountain View County resident are charged in connection with a drug bust.  

One is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Didsbury on June 20, the other on July 4 to face charges stemming from their arrest. 

The charges were laid after a month-long investigation by RCMP and after warrants were granted to search homes in Olds and Mountain View County, east of Didsbury. 

RCMP say they seized 148.6 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine, 27.2 grams of what is believed to be cocaine and 3.3 grams of what is believed to be fentanyl. 

In addition, police say they seized 770 ml of 4-hydroxybutanoic acid (GHB), a variety of pills believed to include Oxycontin, Hydromorphone, and Ecstasy (MDMA) as well as $1,200 of Canadian money. 

As a result, Matthew Nation, 40 of Mountain View County has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and failing to comply with a release order. 

Nation was held for a judicial interim release hearing, then remanded. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Didsbury on June 20.  

Teresa Klein, 36, of Olds has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of unstamped tobacco. 

She was released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Didsbury on July 4.
