OLDS – An Olds man arrested last week after allegedly showing a naked photograph of himself to a young child in a local playground last summer is scheduled to be in court next week.

The man faces charges of making sexually explicit material available to a child, and exposure of genital organs to a child for a sexual purpose.

Police say the man “was reported to have shown a naked picture of himself to a young child during the late summer while at a playground within the town of Olds. The man allegedly made sexual comments and the child left the playground.”

RCMP were not made aware of the incident until October 2019.

The accused was arrested on Dec. 9, and the following day RCMP executed a search warrant on a local residence and seized what they are calling “offence related property.”

The accused has been released with several conditions after a judicial hearing, including being prohibited from going within 10 metres of any swimming pool, daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre.

He is also prohibited from possessing any portable electronic devices capable of capturing images outside his home, and prohibited from being in the presence of anyone under the age of 16 unless they are in the presence of a responsible adult.

Terry Haskell, 67, is scheduled to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Dec. 16.
