Fort McMurray family looking for home in Olds

The Fort McMurray wildfires have forced a woman to come to Olds College far sooner than she expected and she's now looking for a place for her family to live in the community.

Tosha Moore and her family arrived in Red Deer Saturday night, where they were staying with the Red Cross. They checked out Olds for the first time on Monday.

"I do aboriginal stakeholder consultation between the oil companies and our Metis group so I was planning on getting my full degree. I've been doing it for six years, but I don't have my full degree," Moore told the Albertan.

"I was in the works of applying to Olds for their environmental programming just the week before and finding funding and all that good stuff."

Moore and her husband are unsure if their home is still standing. They're hopeful it is still intact, but as of Monday, they didn't know for sure.

"It's actually my parents' home – my childhood home. We were renovating it and we were going to take it over," she said.
