Entrepreneurship centre to open before April 30

The Information and Entrepeneurship Centre, which will house the Olds Institute, Olds and District Chamber of Commerce, Uptowne Olds and others, is expected to be open by the end of April, according to Olds Institute executive director Mitch Thomson.

The Information & Entrepreneurship Centre, which will bring together the Olds Institute, Olds and District Chamber of Commerce, Uptowne Olds and a visitor information centre, is expected to be open the last week of April.

Olds Institute (OI) executive director Mitch Thomson says plans call for the groups to move in by about April 24.

As reported earlier by the Albertan, it will be located in the old Cooperators Insurance space next to Padnoma Support Services, across the avenue from the post office.

"The construction of the project is still taking us a little bit to get going as you work through permits and design and partnerships and stuff. But we are fully committed to opening it up before the end of April," Thomson told the Albertan.

In addition to offices for OI, the chamber of commerce, etc., plans call for the facility to house a digital copy centre, a virtual reality space, an electric vehicle charging station, digital tourist information kiosks and a portable information gazebo.
